Brian Madderson was MD of George Hammond PLC for 20 years, owning responsibility for their nine dealer sites in Kent and Sussex, including the flagship Dover South Services, which broke records for a non-motorway site with 20M/L sold in the 1990’s. On retirement, peers in the industry asked him to revive the Petrol Retailers Association (PRA), which he has been doing as Chairman for the last 10 years. The PRA recently re-formed the Car Wash Association to try and better regulate the Hand Car Wash sector, of which Police estimate there are upwards of 20,000 operations across the UK.
